The Smart Cville Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the hiring of Alpha Diallo as Program Coordinator.
Alpha Diallo is from Guinea, West Africa. Although he has spent the majority of his life in the Virginia, Alpha’s passion in community innovation and development stem from his experiences living in Guinea. Since obtaining his Masters degree in Urban Planning from the University of Virginia, Alpha has had a keen interest in the intersection of data science and public good. He is a full-time data analyst with Magellan Health. In his free time, Alpha is a volunteer instructor with WeCodeToo, a Charlottesville nonprofit dedicated to helping young black and brown children break into the technology industry with coding and programming.
Midway through last year, the Smart Cville Board of Directors decided it was time to expand beyond its volunteer roots and hire a part-time program coordinator to facilitate growth. That process commenced in August with the formation of a board Hiring subcommittee. The subcommittee worked together to develop a job posting and process for this first hire. Overwhelmed by the quality of candidates, the subcommittee had a very difficult decision to make.
“Alpha is an immensely impressive individual, not only for his competence and qualifications which match excellently with Smart Cville’s needs, but also for his sincere dedication to our community and driving progress forward through the use of technology. I was impressed with his passion and his knowledge of Charlottesville’s struggles and opportunities. I feel very confident that Alpha is exactly the person Smart Cville needs to excel into continued and greater success for all of our neighbors,” said Seth Ragosta, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and who sat on the Hiring Subcommittee.
Alpha’s first day with Smart Cville is January 2. He will serve as an ex-officio member of the Smart Cville Board of Directors. You can find him at alpha – at – smartcville.com.
