Microgrants for Community Based Responses to COVID-19

The Center for Civic Innovation, a project of Smart Cville, is offering microgrants to any community member leveraging data or technology to support our community in response to the COVID-19 crisis.  From idea stage to active/ongoing projects, we have a small fund to support you.  Each microgrant is worth up to $200 and grant applications will be open until the money is exhausted.

If you are interested in sponsoring this microgrant program with matching funds, please let us know.

What costs does this grant cover?

Any cost related to technology or data infrastructure supporting community-based projects.  This includes but is not limited to software subscriptions or licensing, design work, development work, server or hosting costs.

I am just getting started, can I apply?

Applications are accepted for ideas at any stage.

My project is not tech-related but I use technology to execute the project, can I apply?

Yes, of course. Most projects especially in this time of social distancing will have some form of technology element or cost, we’d like to help mitigate those costs.

Does my project have to be based in Charlottesville?

Right now we are accepting applications for projects based in the City of Charlottesville and/or Albemarle County.  We are also accepting applications from communities who have licensed our budget visualization: City of Danville, Town of Warrenton, City of Lexington.
